The honest summary: Gobblr stores your meal plans on your own devices, and in your own iCloud account or Google backup. We never receive them. There is no Gobblr account and no server of ours involved. This page covers Gobblr on iPhone and iPad and Gobblr on Android, and exists to say precisely what that means.
1. What the app stores on your device
Everything you create in Gobblr (your saved meals and their ingredients, your daily plans, and which grocery items you have ticked off) is written to the app's private storage on your own device. Two ordinary iOS mechanisms hold it: a local database for meals and plans, and the app's preferences file for small settings such as your grocery checkmarks.
This data is included in your iPhone backups (iCloud or local), which you control and which are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
On Android, the same things are held in the app's private storage as one data file plus the app's preferences file, which also records when your free week began. When backup is switched on in your phone's settings, Android includes both in your own Google backup and restores them on a new phone. That backup lives in your Google Account, where we cannot read it, and Google handles it under Google's privacy policy.
2. iCloud sync on iPhone and iPad
So that your meals follow you from one device to another, Gobblr syncs through your own private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit service. A few things are worth being precise about:
- The data lives in your iCloud account, not on any server of ours. It counts against your iCloud storage, not ours. In practice that is a few hundred kilobytes at most.
- It is a private database. Apple's design means we cannot read it, and we have no console, dashboard or API through which we could. We see none of your meals or plans.
- Sync requires you to be signed in to iCloud. If you are not, Gobblr simply keeps everything on the device and carries on working.
- Apple processes this data as part of providing iCloud, under Apple's privacy policy.
The Android app does not sync between devices. Your Google backup, described above, is what carries your meals to a new phone.
3. What we receive
Nothing. Gobblr has no account or sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party SDKs. The Android app includes Google's own Play Billing library, which it uses only to ask Google Play whether you have a subscription. Gobblr does not track you across apps or websites. Because the only data leaving your device goes into your own iCloud account or Google backup, we receive none of it.
Two features reach the web at your request, and neither passes through us. Importing a recipe from a link fetches that page straight from the website you chose, the way a browser would, and reads the recipe out of it on your device. Watch how it's made opens a video search in your browser or the YouTube app, where that service's own privacy policy applies.
Gobblr's App Store privacy label therefore reads "Data Not Collected", the privacy manifest shipped inside the iOS app declares no collected data types and no tracking, and the Google Play Data safety section declares no data collected or shared.
4. Subscriptions
Gobblr Premium is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles the free trial, payment, billing, renewal and cancellation entirely. We never see your name, email address, payment method or Apple Account details, and no payment information passes through the app.
What Gobblr receives is a signal from iOS saying whether a valid subscription is currently active. Nothing in it identifies you. Apple separately provides us with aggregate, anonymised sales and subscription reports, which show totals rather than individuals. Manage or cancel your subscription at any time in the Settings app under your Apple Account.
On Android, the first week is free and needs no card or sign-up: it starts the first time you open Gobblr, and its start date is kept on your device and in your backup, so reinstalling continues the same week. After that, Gobblr Premium is a subscription sold through Google Play Billing, and Google handles payment, billing, renewal and cancellation. We never see your name, email address, payment method or Google Account details. The app asks Google Play whether a subscription is active, and that answer stays on your device. Google provides us with aggregate sales reports, which show totals rather than individuals. Manage or cancel your subscription at any time in the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions.
5. Children
Gobblr is suitable for all ages, and rated 4+ on the App Store. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children.
6. Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes Gobblr's data from that device. Because your meals also live in your private iCloud database, they will return if you reinstall while signed in to the same Apple Account. To remove the synced copy as well, open Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, and delete Gobblr's data there.
On Android, uninstalling removes Gobblr's data from that phone. If backup is on, the copy in your Google backup can come back when you reinstall; you can delete it from your phone's backup settings or from Backups in Google Drive.
Nothing is stored on our side, so there is no server-side copy for us to erase.
7. This website
This site is static and sets no cookies. It loads Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies, without fingerprinting, and without storing anything that identifies you. That is the only third-party request the page makes. It tells us how many people visited, nothing about who.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. In Gobblr's case we hold none, so in practice there is nothing to request. If you have contacted us by email, we hold that correspondence; write to us at the address under Contact below and we will act on it. For anything relating to your iCloud data, your purchase, or your Apple Account, Apple is the controller; for your Google backup, a Google Play purchase or your Google Account, Google is.
9. Changes
If our data practices ever change, this page and its date will change first, and the app's release notes will say so plainly.
