CurrencyHover tags prices with what they cost in your own currency. On Android it works in any app through a floating bubble. On iPhone it reads screenshots and the camera, because iPhone apps cannot draw over other apps.
Getting started on iPhone
- Price camera: open CurrencyHover, tap Price camera and point it at a menu or price tag. Tap a tag for the exact rate, a tip and split helper, and to log it to your trip.
- Screenshots: take a screenshot, tap its thumbnail, tap Share, then CurrencyHover. Every price gets a tag right there.
- One gesture with Back Tap: in the Shortcuts app, make a shortcut with Take Screenshot, then Convert Prices in Image. Choose it under Settings › Accessibility › Touch › Back Tap. On iPhones with an Action button you can use it there too.
- Controls and widget: add the Price Camera or Convert Screenshot control to Control Center or the Lock Screen, and the CurrencyHover widget for the live rate.
Getting started on Android
- Open CurrencyHover and turn it on under Accessibility settings, then tap the bubble in any app to tag every price on screen. Tap it again to turn tags off.
- Long-press the bubble for the price camera, trip log, settings and help.
Which currency a price is read in
- A price with a sign or code (฿, RM, €, THB) converts from that currency into yours.
- $, ¥, £, kr and Rs follow the currency the screen shows elsewhere, otherwise their main meaning (US$, JP¥, £).
- Plain numbers like 65 use the screen's currency, or on a menu in the price camera, your travel currency.
- Prices in your own currency convert only to a travel or second currency you have chosen.
If something is off
- No tags? The screen may have no prices, or prices in your own currency need a travel currency. Set one in Settings.
- Wrong currency? Pick the travel currency yourself in Settings. On iPhone it follows your time zone; on Android, your mobile network.
- Back Tap does nothing? Check the shortcut has both actions, then run it once from the Shortcuts app.
- No bubble on Android? Turn CurrencyHover on under Accessibility settings, and check Show floating button in Settings.
- Offline? The last exchange rates are kept, so tags keep working; they refresh every few hours when you are online.
